When I was younger, I helped my father roast coffee in his specialty grocery shop. I still remember the ten kilogram roaster, the steady churn of the drum, and the way the aroma pulled people in off the street. The machine sat just outside the store, and anyone passing by would stop, breathe it in, and wander inside.

That smell carried more than coffee. It carried conversation, laughter, the long days and the easy ones. Some of my best memories were made around that roaster, not because of the coffee itself, but because of everyone who gathered around it.

That is where Mizaaj began.
